Snowdon - The People's Mountain

Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa is one of the most iconic mountains in the United Kingdom. Standing at 1,085m it is the highest mountain south of the Scottish Borders and perhaps the most climbed with hundreds of thousands of people reaching the top each year.

The Snowdon patch was the second patch we ever created so will always hold a special place in the APC journey.

One of our most enduring memories was bivvying on the summit ahead of the start of the Welsh 3000s, hunkered down near the cafe on the summit for shelter, full of anticipation for the challenge ahead.

We think the mountain deserves the title ‘The People’s Mountain’ - It offers something for everyone, from the experienced walker seeking a thrill on the knife edge ridge of Crib Goch, to school groups of children immersing themselves in the outdoors to those who take the mountain railway to the summit to enjoy the views.

Love it or hate it, this mountain is a key part of the UK’s mountain culture.
